Since 2002, Mike Loftus has been serving as the president of MLE Merchandising and Signs Solutions Inc., a company based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. When not busy with his responsibilities at MLE, Mike Loftus enjoys several hobbies, including boating.

Boating as a recreational activity is enjoyed by millions across the country. In 2014 alone, over 87 million adults were noted to have participated in recreational boating activities. However, it is not an easy hobby to sustain as it requires two things from the hobbyist: money and time. The costs associated with building a boat are even higher than working on a car.

So why are hobbyists investing a lot of their resources into this pastime? It all boils down to its benefits. First, boating can be a group activity which can be enjoyed by the entire family. The larger the vessel, the more room there is for family activities. Second, boating is also known to be a rewarding stress-relief activity as it allows a person time to escape from the reality of work and immerse into nature. Lastly, the fresh sea breeze and the physical exercise from boat-related activities can serve as stimulants that can improve focus and concentration, mental skills which might prove useful once the person goes back to work.
